The C8 Corvette. The American Supercar For Under 60 Grand!!!

Hello, and welcome back to another super car review. Last week I promised something special and with that, we have the C8 corvette. I know, you are probably thinking “You said something special”, or “It’s just a Corvette”, but once I explain all that got put into the C8, then you will see how special of a car this is. The 8th generation of the historic Corvette line-up, this could possibly be the best to come. With all of the lines and unique features, this isn’t any ordinary Corvette. There is a lot of history with the corvette line-up, so the next part will walk you through it. Back in 1953, Chevy wanted to change up their inventory, and start making sports cars. In 1953, they came up with the C1 Corvette. C1 means “Corvette” and what generation it is. For example the C7 Corvette would be the 7th Corvette model. There are 8 models of Corvette’s starting from 1953-2020. The C1 was made from 1953 to 1962, and the C2 from 1963 to 1967. The next Corvette model (C3), was made from 1968-1982. Cruising through the 80’s and 90’s, we have the C4 Corvette which lasted from 1983-1996, until the C5 dominated the line-up from 1997-2004. More recently, we have the C6 Corvette which was Chevy’s main product from 2005-2013. The second newest model behind the C8, would be the C7 or C7 stingray, and was made from 2014-2019. Now that we know some history of these famous cars, we can move on to talk a little more about some C8 history. One of the things that made people excited for the C8 corvette was the fact that it was going to be the first mid-engine Corvette, which is a big deal for a number of reasons. One reason why this is such big news, is that the next few models could represent the C8 and also have mid-engines, which means the whole corvette line-up could change. The C8 Corvette made its debut to the world on July 18, 2019, at the National Corvette Museum where they had all of the prior generations lined up for the public to see. Many people at the grand showing of the C8 were blown away by the looks, and most were satisfied. The real question is how much power the C8 has, and how it is to drive. Luckily, the next part will walk you through every performance standpoint that you need to know about Chevy’s new supercar. When Chevy decided to make the C8, many people had mixed opinions of how it would look. What they came up with was the surprisingly good looking supercar that everybody was waiting for. The question here was how would it compete with the Ferrari’s and Lamborghini’s. With a 6.2 liter LT2 V8 engine, this car was made to be used. The C8 isn’t packed with horsepower and has 495, which isn’t too bad for a V8, and considering that the C7 Corvette only had 460. The C8 also has 470 lb-ft of torque. But when Hennessey got ahold of this beast, they made the horsepower and torque numbers exceed 1,000! If you don’t know what Hennessey is, let me explain. Hennessey is an American tuning house specializing in modifying sports cars. They can change the horsepower to as big of as a number that you could imagine. They specialize in American cars such as the Camero’s and Corvettes, but they do a great job with any car that they get a hold of. Now back to the C8’s stats and driving experience. The C8 has a recorded 0-60 time of just 2.8 seconds and a quarter mile time of just around 11.2 seconds which is a huge upgrade from the C7. Take the Ferrari 458 for example (Last Review). It also has a V8, but has 70 more horsepower It does the 0-60 dash in 3.3 seconds, which is four tenths of a second slower than the C8. What I am getting at here is how quick the C8 is and how it can beat the high horsepower Ferrari’s. With the powerful V8 engine, the C8 Corvette has a top speed of a crazy 194 miles per hour. Chevy confirmed that they manufactured 2,700 C8’s before their factory in Bowling Green, Kentucky was shut down due to the Corona Virus. The Z51 option also adds an electronic limited-slip rear differential, more aggressive breaks, and summer tires. The C8 is a 8-speed dual-clutch transmission which gives the driver the feel that they need to feel the full force of this car, and is also a first for a corvette. The C8 corvette is controlled by either a push-button gear selector on the center console, or by using two large steering wheel mounted shift paddles. One of the coolest parts about the C8’s design is the back end and the aerodynamics used throughout the front and side. The C8 has four exhaust pipes, two from the bottom right, and two from the bottom left corners of the well designed back end. The most incredible thing is that with all of the power, and acceleration, Chevy kept this car under $60,000! I mean, this car was competing with the $200,000 Ferrari’s and it is only 60,000 dollars! Now that’s a lot of car for the money. Chevy did this because they wanted to expose what having an exotic car would be like and not have it be so expensive that people would overlook it. There you see why this car is better off than a Ferrari, $100,000 more expensive than it. A question that most of the people looking to buy the C8, was how the driving experience was and how they could make the C8 fit themselves personally. We went over how the driving experience was, so on that note, let's move on to some specs and options of the 2020 C8 Corvette. As you probably guessed, there are tons of ways to configure your spec of the C8. The most important choice is the paint job. There are 12 stock exterior paint choices, and many are shades of grey scale. I will keep it light and only hit some of the best colors. Long Beach Red Metallic, Torch Red, Sebring Orange, Accelerate Yellow, Black, Shadow Grey, Blade Silver and Arctic white are just some of the stock colors for your C8. One of the most seen colors on the C8 is Rapid Blue, but it costs an extra $500. Now we can move on to see what interior color choices the C8 comes with. Jet Black (Yellow, or Red stitching options), Sky Cool Grey, Adrenaline Red, Morello Red, Two Toned Blue, and a few shades of tan. There are also custom interior combinations that allow you to add grey or red seats to the jet black interior or black seats to the sky cool blue or adrenaline red interior. Another cool feature about the C8 is that it is available as either a coupe, or convertible with a fold-able hard top. You simply take the roof off, and it fits inside of the car's rear truck. The C8’s interior remains a two-seat layout, but the cabin is moved closer to the front to make room for the mid-mounted engine. When driving this car, you have all of the accessories and features, and even a squared off steering wheel which improves the driving feel. A 12 inch gauge display and also a large 8 inch touchscreen is angled toward the driver for ease of use, to control the many settings that the C8 has to offer. The interior design makes the driver feel a lot more focused on the road then previous generations. Below the infotainment screen sit the gear selector buttons, the drive mode buttons and traction control. Some other features and buttons on the C8 include temperature controls, heated and cooled seats, your climate buttons for modes and driver/passenger split, fan speed, AC, defrosters and finally passenger seat heat, cooling and temperature. Even though the C8’s interior might seem complicated, it is quite simple. Everything that the driver needs is in reach, the passengers settings are within his reach, and other settings they both use are in the middle. The driver side of the C8 is isolated from the passenger, because of the center console and dash. The driver also has a cup holder to his right side by his elbow, and you just need to push down on the top, and it pops up. Another cool feature of the C8 is how much luggage space and room there is in the two trunks. With the front and back compartments combined, you have a total of 13 cubic feet of storage space. As you can see, all of these options, features, and settings, make this car totally unique and personalized to the buyer. Now that we went through the History, Stats, and Options, we can move on to my favorite part. Yes...my pictures and videos!!! I was able to see the C8 on a bunch of separate occasions, and hopefully the pictures will blow you away! The first time that I saw the C8 was in Florida where 2 were parked at a dealership. They were both black and had red interior. The next C8 I found was a beautiful red one parked along the street. This one looked incredible and had jet black interior, and the silver stock rims. The next few pictures were from the time where I spotted another C8. This one was in a really nice grey, and had an aftermarket wing and front decal by the head light. The owner was nice enough to open up the engine bay and the drivers side door, and by that, I got a better look at the adrenaline red interior, and the amount of truck space. Below that, we have some more pictures of a white C8 that I spotted at a local meet. This one was in white and had blacked out stock rims and tan interior. This is probably one of the best spec'd C8's I have see, and had no aftermarket features. After the White C8, I spotted another one! This one was black and also had black rims which looks very nice. The next few photos will show you how cool an all black C8 is. The next C8 I found was also at a local meet, and had the back engine cover open and the windows down for me to take the best pictures. It was red and had black interior, with no aftermarket features. I uploaded some photos of this C8 below the pictures of the Black one. I have also uploaded a walk-around video of the Grey C8 , down below. Below that video, I also put another pair of videos of a red C8 that I have seen locally. Under those videos, I put another of the same C8 taking off, and it sounded like a rocket. Then after these videos, I have also uploaded another video of the blacked out C8 taking off. Believe it or not, I have spotted another C8, and this time, it is in Rapid Blue, which looks absolutely incredible. Now, I have spotted this specific C8 about 7 times around East Aurora, but I will only put the best videos. This concludes the C8 review. The American super car with all of that lines and power, for under 60 grand. This is the best Corvette to come from Chevy and I can't wait for the C9 (man, that feels weird to say!)
